A Little Dolly Inspiration for the Week Ahead

As we begin a new week at JBES, we’re taking a little inspiration from Tennessee’s own Dolly Parton:

“Find out who you are and do it on purpose.” — Dolly Parton

We want every Bear to discover who they are, recognize their unique strengths, and have the confidence to be themselves. Our students each bring something special to our school, and we are proud to help them learn, grow, dream big, and find their purpose.

Here’s to another great week of being Bright, Engaged Achievers who are Respectful and Safe!

Weekend Food Bag Program

Your student will be bringing home a form today for our Weekend Food Bag Program. If your family could benefit from additional food assistance over the weekend, please complete and return the form, or click the link below to sign up.

This information will help our school counselor prepare bags for students who need them. Thank you!

Bear Bucks are here at JBES!

We are excited to recognize our students for making positive choices and showing what it means to be Bright, Engaged Achievers who are Respectful and Safe!

Students can earn Bear Bucks throughout the school day and save or spend them on fun rewards such as:

⭐ Hat or pajama passes
⭐ Morning announcements
⭐ Principal’s Assistant
⭐ Special experiences
⭐ And much more!

We’ll also celebrate our Bears with bi-monthly PBIS celebrations throughout the year!

Ask your Bear how many Bear Bucks they’ve earned and what they’re saving for!

Positive Choices + Bear Bucks = BIG Rewards!

  • Let your child choose what interests them.
  • Read together and take turns.
  • Ask questions about what they read.
  • Have them retell the story in their own words.
  • Practice tricky words using letter sounds and word parts.
  • Keep it positive! Celebrate effort and progress.

Pathway Promotion - 3rd & 4th Grade Information

Tennessee law requires 3rd and 4th grade students to demonstrate proficiency in English Language Arts (ELA) on the TCAP assessment to be promoted to the next grade.

For more information, email Dr. Tinnell at stinnell@mauryk12.org.

Attendance Matters!

Student attendance is monitored daily by the state. Each absence, whether excused or unexcused, is recorded as the state evaluates the total amount of instructional time missed.

It is very important that your child not miss more than four (4) days within a nine-week period. Missing sixteen (16) or more days during the school year leads to a significant loss of instructional time, which can impact your child’s academic progress and may result in retention.
