September 27, 2026

Logo for Joseph Brown Elementary School featuring a friendly brown bear.

Happy Sunday, Bear Families!

We’ve made it to the last week before Fall Break. Our students and staff have been working hard, and we are looking forward to finishing this week strong.

As we head into the week, please help by making sure students arrive on time and ready to learn each day. Even with a break right around the corner, every instructional day matters!

Thank you for your continued support, encouragement, and partnership. We are proud of our Bears and grateful for our JBES families.
Let’s have a fantastic week and finish strong!

Dolly Day Community Partners

A huge THANK YOU to our wonderful community partners who joined us for Dolly Day and read with our Bears!

Having community members walk through our doors, share a story, and show our students that reading matters makes such a difference. We are grateful for your time, your support, and your investment in our students.

It truly takes a village, and we are so thankful you are part of ours!

As Dolly said, “You can never get enough books into the hands of enough children.”

Below are two pictures from the day. To view all the pictures from the day, visit our Facebook page.

Pathway Promotion - 3rd & 4th Grade Information

Tennessee law requires 3rd and 4th grade students to demonstrate proficiency in English Language Arts (ELA) on the TCAP assessment to be promoted to the next grade.

For more information, email Dr. Tinnell at stinnell@mauryk12.org.

Attendance Matters!

Student attendance is monitored daily by the state. Each absence, whether excused or unexcused, is recorded as the state evaluates the total amount of instructional time missed.

It is very important that your child not miss more than four (4) days within a nine-week period. Missing sixteen (16) or more days during the school year leads to a significant loss of instructional time, which can impact your child’s academic progress and may result in retention.
